Pools saved again. But for how long? |
|
Jan
17, 2012 - Two years ago, our pools were
saved from the City of Toronto budget
chopping block. In 2012, we did it again!
Thanks to citizen protests and opposition
led by Councillor Josh Colle, the city's
budget passed without the planned cuts that
threatened to close swimming pools and other
valuable city assets.
Is it permanent?
According to Mayor Ford: "we'll hit replay
and do it all over again next year." |

Community
urged to fight pool closures |
|

Beach-Riverdale
residents meet to strategize on how to save
their community swimming pools. City
Councillors Mary-Margaret McMahon (Ward 32,
Beaches-East York) and Paula Fletcher (Ward
30, Toronto-Danforth) both came out to show
their support.
Fletcher said taxpayers didn't bring in Rob
Ford as the city's mayor to see services
cut, adding there's actually a projected
budget surplus of $139 million. |
