The campaign to save our pools

Our cause

Due to cuts in the latest City of Toronto budget, 78 perfectly good Toronto school swimming pools are scheduled to shut down permanently beginning in June, 2008. The City of Toronto, the TDSB and the Province of Ontario all claim they don't have the $12M to stop the closures. These are pools that help maintain children's' health by keeping them active, allow them to socialize with their friends, provide competitive athletes for Canada's world and Olympic swimming program and, above all, teach kids how to swim in a city that doesn't have as easy access to clean beaches as do other communities outside of the GTA. Wherever the funding comes from, these pools are enjoyed by young and old alike. Once they're gone, there's no getting them back. View video clip

Our people

We are a non-partisan coalition of parents, students, concerned citizens, and members of not-for-profit sports organizations from across the city of Toronto.

We are united by a common interest to save the pools located in TDSB schools from closing. We welcome others to join us in our efforts!
